Mountains and r-modes in Low-Mass X-ray Binaries | |||||
Co-authors | ||||||||
Abstract |
I will discuss Low-Mass X-ray Binaries as sources of gravitational waves and review theoretical work on the signal expected from "mountains" on the neutron star and unstable modes. In particular I will focus on the r-mode instability and discuss how X-ray data can be used to aid gravitational wave detection and to constrain the physical mechanisms at work in the stellar interior. |
