Abstract |
General relativity and quantum uncertainty principle together imply that the space-time at the Planck scale is described by noncommutative geometry. We probe the quantum geometry at the Planck scale by studying the behaviour of a scalar field in the vicinity of a noncommutative black hole. We find that the quantum field at the Planck scale obey twisted statistics and the corresponding creation and annihilation operators obey a twisted oscillator algebra. We also argue that the usual spin-statistics connection breaks down at the Planck scale, which has important implications for the associated phenomenology. |
