Title

Good Tetrads and Exact Solutions in f(T) gravity

Abstract

I will discuss the importance of choosing good tetrads for the study of the field equations of f(T) gravity. It is well known that this theory is not invariant under local Lorentz transformations, and therefore the choice of tetrad plays a crucial role in such models. Different tetrads will lead to different field equations which in turn have different solutions. I will speak of a good tetrad if it imposes no restrictions on the form of the f(T) function. Employing local rotations, I will find good tetrads in the context of spherical symmetry, where I will present exact solutions including Schwarzschild-de Sitter solutions in vacuum.

Title

A biconnection variational approach for GR

Abstract

A new variational approach for general relativity will be presented where, in addition to the metric tensor, two independent affine connections enter the action as dynamical variables. When the variation is applied to the Einstein-Hilbert action the Einstein field equations are recovered. However in the matter action the dependence upon one of the connections is left completely unspecified implying that any general matter fields (for example spinors) can enter the theory without spoiling the Einstein field equations. Finally this approach will be applied to modified theories of gravity where some differences with respect to the more usual metric and Palatini variations will emerge.
