Conformal frames and quasi-local black hole horizons | |||||

Abstract |
We discuss the behaviour of black hole horizons under conformal transformations. Such a transformation does not change the location of causal horizons but does change the location of quasi-local horizons defined in terms of marginally trapped surfaces. A proposed quasi-local modification in terms of the Wald entropy does not however change location and this leads to a horizon-entropy increase relation for modified theories of gravity. We also discuss conformal transformations and the semi-classical Hawking effect. |
