Title

Skewness as a probe of Baryon Acousitc Osscillations
Co-authors Roman Juszkiewicz, Rien van de Weygaert

Abstract

We use perturbation theory to investigate the Baryon Acoustic Oscillations signature in the reduced third moment of the cosmic density field - the skewness $S_3$. We show that for various cosmological models the corresponding signal in the matter fluctuations power spectrum is also carried out to the volume-averaged skewness. Although the BAO signal seen in the skewness has lower amplitude when compare to two-point statistics it provide a potentially interesting BAO probe thanks to its weak sensitivity redshift distortions effects. The $S_3$ is also linear-bias free and the BAO signal appears here at smaller scales compared to 2-point statistics. We show that the main BAO feature in skewness for the WMAP7 normalisation appears at $\sim82\hmpc$ with the maximal wiggle amplitude of $~3\%$. Possible future detection of the BAO wiggles signature in the skewness can give us more insights into tantalising nature of the Dark Energy.
