Title

On the analog gravity formalism applied to white dwarfs
Co-authors C.Cherubini, D.Bini, A. Geralico

Abstract

The ‘‘effective geometry’’ formalism is here adopted to analyse the perturbations of a non rotating white dwarf. After the derivation of a compact analytical parametric approximate white dwarf solution, by the Padè formalism, we use it to construct the effective acoustic metric governing general fluid perturbations. The equations of the theory are numerically integrated in the case of irrotational, spherical, pulsating problem then, showing the analog spacetime structure of the acoustic metric. In particular it appears that the stellar surface exhibits a curvature singularity associated to the vanishing of density. We finally include rotation in the previously presented scheme for the n=1, selfgravitating and uniformly rotating gaseous polytropic system (Williams' solution), discussing possible future extensions of this scenario to rotating white dwarfs.
