Abstract

Baryon Acoustic Oscillations are a feature imprinted in the galaxy distribution by acoustic waves travelling in the plasma of the early universe. As such, they provide information on the physics before recombination, and can be used as a standard ruler to study the geometry of the universe. These baryon acoustic structures are spherical shells with relatively small density contrast surrounding high density central regions. We have designed a specific wavelet function, that enhances the signal, exploiting the physics of the process by using two different mass tracers. We have identified, for the first time, some of these individual cosmic structures and have reconstructed its shape and scale. We confirm the stability of our method by using numerical simulations.
