Title

Baryons in clusters as seen by in the Planck survey.
Co-authors on behalf of the Planck Collaboration

Abstract

Inverse Compton scattering of CMB photons by the hot gas in galaxy clusters potential well, i.e., the Sunyaev-Zel'dovich effect, is clearly detected in millimeter range by the Planck mission. The al-sky reach of the survey allows statistical studies of the population of clusters the last and larger structure to form in a LCDM cosmology. The study of the baryonic component of clusters and of the physical processes at play within are the key to our understanding of structure formation and assembly, and thus a requirement for the use of clusters as cosmological probes. In this framework, we will review the current results from the Planck collaboration in terms of scaling and structural properties of galaxy clusters, and of clusters physics.
