Finsler geometric extension of Einstein gravity | |||||

Abstract |
I will present a well defined action based theory of gravity, including matter coupling, on the basis of Finsler geometry instead of metric geometry. Measurements of observers and transformations between them will be discussed. It turns out that the latter form a groupoid which generalises the usual Lorentz group. Furthermore I present the field equations of our theory, how to implement symmetries on Finsler spaecetimes and a first order solution of the equations beyond metric geometry in the case of spherical symmetry. Consistency with general relativity is ensured since our theory becomes identical to Einstein gravity in the case the underlying Finsler geometry equals metric geometry. |
