Magnetized compact stars.

Abstract

The magnetized color flavor locked phase in the presence of a strong magnetic field is investigated within the phenomenological MIT bag model. The study was performed taking into account the variation of the strange quark mass, the baryon density, the magnetic field, the gap and the bag parameters. We have also shown that magnetized CFL matter is more stable than unpaired magnetized SQM in the range of strong magnetic fields typically expected in compact stars and for a wide range of values of the gap of the QCD Cooper pairs and could become the ground state inside neutron stars. The mass-radius relation for such stars is also studied.
