On the relation of LQG and Shape Dynamics | |||||

Abstract |
Shape dynamics is a formulation of gravity where refoliation invariance is traded for local spatial conformal invariance. This provides a considerable simplification to the problem of gauge invariance in gravity. Loop quantization on the other provides a rigorous quantization program for the kinematics of gravity, but the satisfactory implementation of refoliation invariance is missing. It is thus natural to combine the strengths of these two approaches and loop quantize shape dynamics. I will discuss the problems in this program and a provide a heuristic solution. |
