Spin-cube models of quantum gravity | |||||

Abstract |
General Relativity can be reformulated as a constrained Poincare 2-group gauge theory. The path integral quantization of such a theory gives a state-sum model where the edges carry the representation labels of the Poincare 2-group, which can be identified with edge lengths, while the triangles carry the intertwiner labels, which are U(1) spins. In this way one obtains a categorification of spin-foam models, and introduces the edge lengths, which makes the coupling of matter much easier. |
