Title

The solution of Thomas-Fermi equation in the presence of the strong magnetic fields
Co-authors

Abstract

We study the influence of strong constant magnetic fields on a neutral and compressed system of neutrons, protons and electrons. The size of the system and homogeneous distributions of protons and neutrons at nuclear density are assumed without studying details of gravitational balance and nuclear effects. Instead, using the Thomas-Fermi equation for ultra relativistic electrons with non-vanishing Fermi energy, we exactly obtain analytical solutions for different values of magnetic fields B, much larger $10^{13}$ Gauss, but smaller than $10^{17}$ Gauss, giving the electromagnetic structure of the system. The effects of magnetic fields on the Coulomb potential depth at the center and overcritical electric field near surface are shown. We discuss the up-limit of average magnetic field, whose pressure is necessary for stabilizing the system of degenerate electrons, protons and neutrons in the absence of gravitational field.
