Title

Review on High Energy Observations in Searches for non-thermal Emissions from Accelerated Particles in Magnetic White Dwarfs
Co-authors

Abstract

Origins of cosmic-rays are still a mystery for just hundred years from the discovery. Neutron stars (NSs) are considered as textbook cases of particle acceleration sites in our Galaxy, but many unresolved problems remain numerically. Searches for new acceleration sites are crucial for astrophysics. We focus on magnetized white dwarfs (MWDs), which have same kinds of rotating magnetospheres as those of NSs, and may contribute a few to 10 % of Galactic cosmic-ray electrons. We performed six observations of MWDs in binaries and three single MWDs with Suzaku currently, and found some hints of particle acceleration process from three objects including a magnetic cataclysmic variable AE Aqrarii. In this presentation, we review the idea of MWDs as particle acceleration sites and summarize our searches for observational evidences in high energy emissions.
