Abstract |
The presence and properties of a fallback disk around a young neutron star may determine its evolution and explain the various classes of young neutron stars. A broad overview and applications to particular neutron stars will be discussed: A fallback disk has been observed around the AXP 4U 0142+61. The spindown rate and all present properties of the SGR 0418+ 5729 and the anomalous braking index of PSR J1734-3333 can also be explained by spindown under torques from a fallback disk. |
