Title

Loop Quantum Gravity
Co-authors

Abstract

There have been momentum developments in the loop approach to quantum gravity during the last few years. Among others: the definition of finite transition amplitudes with a positive cosmological constant and the first derivation of the Bekenstein-Hawking entropy S=A/4 with the correct 1/4 factor for non extremal black holes. I summarize the results achieved and the open problems.

Recent developments in Black Hole physics
Co-authors

Abstract

Our understanding of quantum black hole physics has made a substantial step ahead in the last year, thanks mostly to the work of Ghosh-Frodden-Perez and Bianchi. We now dispose of a direct derivation of the Bekenstein-Hawking entropy for ordinary black holes, based solely on the quantum microphyiscs of gravity, and without the need of tuning parameters. I summarize the state of the art, comparing the different approaches, and discussing the open questions.
