Title

Generic regular cosmological solutions in higher order gravity theories
Co-authors

Abstract

We expand the general spatial metric around a regular point in a synchronous system of local coordinates and study the function counting problem for general cosmological theory in vacuum f(R) gravity without any symmetries. This rests on having the general f(R) field equations written in a dynamical form with equations describing the evolution part of the problem and constraints. We show that regular cosmological solutions cannot be generic in f(R) theories and the same is true when the analysis is redone in the conformal frame. These results can be generalized to any number of space-time dimensions in both the Jordan and the Einstein frames in these theories.
