Title

Hawking radiation for a Proca field

Abstract

We report our recent work on computing the Hawking radiation of a Proca field in the background of a D-dimensional Schwarzschild black hole. Since the mass term introduces a coupling between two physical degrees of freedom of the field, we construct a numerical strategy to solve the coupled system of ordinary differential equations numerically without decoupling. We show how to define the transmission factor for the coupld system from an S matrix and compute them for various modes, masses and spacetime dimensions. Then the transmision factors are used to obtain the Hawking fluxes in this channel. Finally, we shall discuss briefly ongoing work on the Hawking radiation of a charged Proca field on a brane.
