Abstract |
In this talk I will present recent progress made in the study of Eisenstein series, appearing as coefficients of curvature correction terms in the low energy-expansion of type II string theory. In particular I will show how these Eisenstein series can be defined in D=1 and 2 space-time dimensions, where they are invariant under the infinite-dimensional U-duality groups E9 and E10. Furthermore I will demonstrate that the particular curvature correction coefficients appearing in the expansion possess meaningful Fourier-like expansions, thereby continuing the mathematical pattern previously know from higher space-time dimensions. Finally I will discuss Eisenstein series as solutions to Laplace eigenvalue equations. |
