Abstract |
Advanced LIGO is the second generation gravitational-wave detector now being installed in the LIGO Observatories in Hanford Washington, and Livingston Louisiana. It has a planned strain sensitivity of 10^-22 in a 100 Hz bandwidth, and has an astrophysically interesting sensitivity from 10 Hz to more than 1 kHz. Once commissioned to its full sensitivity, it is anticipated it will observe many gravitational wave signals per year. The NSF-funded project is now 3/4 complete, and is anticipated to start observation in 2015. |
