Title

The Double Pulsar
Co-authors

Abstract

The only known double-pulsar system also happens to be the most relativistic eccentric pulsar system known. Furthermore, its orbit is nearly perpendicular to the plane of the sky. This combination of circumstances allows the measurement of multiple relativistic corrections to the Keplerian orbit, in addition to the mass ratio, and therefore permits the most stringent test of strong-field relativity to date. Observations of the pulse profiles and changing eclipse properties allow the verification of relativistic effects and the exploration of the interactions between the pulsars.
