New tests of preferred frame effects with pulsar experiments | |||||

Abstract |
We propose new, fully consistent tests on preferred frame effects (PFEs) which are predicted by a number of alternative gravity theories. In order to study such possible deviations from general relativity, the generalized PPN equations of motion are used. PFEs are systematically studied from relativistic pulsar binaries and also isolated pulsars. Our new tests overcome some limitations of previous methods, and our new limits in the strong-field regimes are even better than or comparable to the Solar system limits. |
