Vacuum Polarisation on the Brane for a Higher Dimensional Black Hole | |||||

Abstract |
For an ADD braneworld we study the Hartle-Hawking vacuum for a massless, conformally coupled scalar field external to the horizon of a Schwarzschild-Tangherlini black hole. Taking our universe to be a 4D brane within this system we explicitly calculate the renormalized value of the auto-correlation function of the field, <phi^2>ren, on the brane inside a bulk constructed of four (~Schwarzschild spacetime) to eleven dimensions and discuss the associated numerical complications. It has been shown in four dimensions that the analytic component of <phi^2>ren is a good approximation for the total value and we demonstrate whether this holds in the higher dimensional cases. |
