Self-Similar Hydrodynamics (and MHD) under Self-Gravity in Forming Compact Objects | |||||

Abstract |
From the perspective of self-similar hydrodynamics (and MHD) under the self-gravitation, we investigate various possible dynamic evolutions of astrophysical systems with quasi-spherical configurations. Among others, we discuss the formation of supermassive black holes (SMBHs) in galactic bulges and derive the M-sigma power-law relation based on a heuristic criterion of forming SMBHs (Lou & Jiang 2008). Within the similar conceptual framework, we also explore the possibility of forming intermediate mass black holes (IMBHs) in globular clusters (Lou & Wu 2012). By invoking the approximation of Paczynski-Wiita gravity, we analyze the self-similar dynamic mass accretions onto central compact objects with spherical symmetry. For example, this process can be extremely effective in forming SMBHs in the universe as long as there exist surrounding reservoirs sufficiently massive to sustain such dynamic accretions. Under rare situations, it would be also conceivable to form hypermassive black holes (HMBHs) in our universe within the mass range of 10^{10} to 10^{12} solar masses. |
