Title

Higher Order Test of Lorentz Invariance with an Optical Ring Cavity
Coauthors Mewes, M.; Matsumoto N.; Ohmae N.; Kokuyama W.; Aso Y., Ando M.

Abstract

Lorentz invariance is considered as the universal symmetry of the Universe. However, theoretical attempts towards the unification of fundamental interactions have led to the idea that Lorentz invariance may only be approximate. This motivated experimental searches and theoretical studies of Lorentz violation. Here we present a search for higher order Lorentz violation in photons with an double-pass optical ring cavity. The search was done by comparing the speed of light propagating in opposite directions in the cavity. We show our first limits using the data taken fron August 2012 and September 2013. We also show our plans to upgrade the apparatus.
