Can one probe the thermal character of analogue Hawking radiation using shallow water waves?
Coauthors | Michel, Florent
Abstract |
We study the scattering coefficients of shallow water waves blocked by a stationary counterflow. When working with sub-critical flows, i.e., no analogue Killing horizon, we show that the emitted spectrum is strongly suppressed, and that its Planckian character is lost. Yet, our numerical results reproduce rather well the observations made by the Vancouver experiment. We also indicate what should be done to improve this type of experiments, and present preliminary results. |
