Abstract |
The AdS/CFT correspondence was conjectured about seventeen years ago by Maldacena. It is a remarkable duality between a quantum theory of gravity in d+1 dimensional anti-de Sitter space and certain gauge theories living on its d dimensional boundary. The gauge/gravity duality, as it is now known, provides new perspectives both on gravitational theories and on strongly coupled quantum field theories. In this talk I will briefly summarise some key aspects of this duality, emphasising the role of supersymmetry in achieving exact results. |
