Title |
Structure Formation In Sterile Neutrino Dark Matter Cosmologies | |||||

Abstract |
Sterile neutrinos with a mass in the keV scale can be produced with a momentum distribution that depends strongly on both their mass and the lepton asymmetry of the plasma in which they are generated. These momentum distributions share many properties with those of warm dark matter, and can thus via free-streaming be expected to play a role in limiting the number of Milky Way satellite galaxies. In this talk I will discuss the effect of the sterile neutrino mass and lepton asymmetry parameters on the matter power spectra. I will use these power spectra in conjunction with a semi-analytic galaxy formation model to calculate the number of Milky Way satellites expected for a given host halo mass, and by comparing the results with observations then seek to constrain the possible values of the sterile neutrino mass and lepton asymmetry. |
