Title

Test-mass charging aboard the future space interferometers from the LISA-PF dedicated work

Abstract

We studied the LISA-PF test-mass charging due to galactic cosmic rays (GCRs) and solar energetic particles (SEPs) with the Fluka Monte Carlo toolkit. Projections of GCR energy spectra and SEP event occurrence when the mission will be sent into orbit were carried out. We compare our findings to those provided by the ESA's Space Environment Information System (SPENVIS), a web interface widely used to estimate doses and overall particle fluxes on instruments aboard future space missions. The results of our work can be extended to the second generation interferometers for gravitational wave detection in space.
