Title

Search for Variation of Fundamental Constants in Space-Time - A Molecular Approach
Coauthors

Abstract

Fundamental constants like the speed of light c, the Planck constant h or the gravitational constant G play defining roles in physics and chemistry. They also play a fundamental role defining the Planck length and time and the existence of a possible quantum foam. Modern theories attempting to unify all four fundamental forces of nature suggest that all (dimensionless) fundamental constants may vary in space and time. The search for such small variations currently constitutes one of the most exciting areas of modern physics as it goes beyond the standard model in particle physics. This talk gives an overview over recent theoretical attempts to find suitable molecular candidates with transitions that show large enhancement factors for the variation of the fine-structure constant and the electron-to-proton mass ratio.
