Abstract |
I will present numerical simulations of photospheric emission in GRB jets emerging from massive star progenitors. I will show results from uniform and unsteady jets and discuss the potential of the photospheric emission for explaining the prompt emission correlations as well as the details of single GRB spectra. |

Abstract |
I will review the propagation of relativistic jets inside their progenitor star and after they break out of their surface. The discussion will be both analytical and based on numerical simulations of hydrodynamic jets. I will show how some common approximation of the jet acceleration are misleading and connect the jet properties to their radiation signature. |
