Title

Structural properties of hypermassive neutron stars
Coauthors

Abstract

Based on a large number of numerical-relativity simulations of merging neutron-star binaries, the structural properties of the hypermassive neutron stars (HMNSs) produced in the post-merger phase have been analyzed. The simulations have been performed in full general relativity using the WHISKY code for the general-relativistic hydrodynamic equations. The HMNS properties have been analyzed for a variety of different equation of states and initial neutron star mass values. The evolution of the various properties of the HMNS as it approaches the collapse to a black hole will be discussed.
