Evolution of the fine-structure constant in runaway dilaton models | |||||

Abstract |
In this talk, the detailed evolution of the fine-structure constant α is studied in the string-inspired runaway dilaton class of models. Constraints on this scenario are provided using the most recent α measurements and using forecasted observations from the forthcoming European Extremely Large Telescope (E-ELT), highlighting how these future measurements may impact constraints on this class of models. Expected measurements of supernovae and of the redshift drift signal from the same telescope are also forecasted in order to constrain the standard cosmological parameters and to study their degeneracy with the runaway dilaton parameters. |
