Abstract

The potential significance for quantum-gravity research of the possibility of Planck-scale deformations of the so-called "Hypersurface-deformation algebra" started to be advocated only very recently. Within classical gravity the hypersurface-deformation algebra is an efficient way for codifying diffeomorphism invariance and in an appropriate limit reproduces the classical Poincaré algebra. We are interested in how the Planck-scale-deformed hypersurface-deformation algebra proposed by Bojowald-Paily in Phys. Rev. D 87 (2013) 044044 does not have the classical Poincaré algebra as a limiting case but rather reproduces in an appropriate limit a Planck-scale-deformed Poincaré algebra of the type usually encountered in the study of noncommutative-spacetime deformation of Minkowski spacetime.
