Abstract |
We define a classification of branes in quarter maximal supergravity theories with scalars in a homogeneous space. The correspondence found between branes and longest weights in representations of the U-duality groups, in maximal supergravities, is further refined introducing a reality condition based on the theory of real forms of Lie algebras and well described by Tits-Satake diagrams. The analysis reveals a universal brane structure common to supergravity theories that can be uplifted to six dimensions. Furthermore The same study has been applied to extremal black holes in D=4,5 reproducing all the known results in literature. The method developed proposes an original approach to the classification problem that can be extended also to not yet well know cases. |
