Title |
Perfect fluid Lagrangians in theories with multiplicative scalar-matter coupling | |||||

Abstract |
In theories with matter minimally coupled to the (possible diverse) gravitational field(s), the perfect fluid Lagrangian is degenerate as one can choose arbitrarily between an infinity of Lagrangians that are similar up to total divergence terms. In theories with multiplicative scalar-matter coupling may it be from an algebraic function of the Ricci scalar or some other scalar field the degeneracy is lifted and therefore one has to make the choice of the only one correct Lagrangian. Here we argue that in the case of perfect fluids this Lagrangian is proportional to the total energy density. |
