Loop Quantum Gravity with a Scalar Field: A Physical Hamiltonian Operator

Abstract

This talk deals with a deparametrized model of loop quantum gravity coupled to a free scalar field, in which the evolution of the quantum states of the gravitational field is described with respect to the relational time provided by the scalar field. I give an outline of the construction which leads to a well-defined Hamiltonian operator governing the quantum dynamics of the gravitational field in the model. I describe the properties of the resulting operator, and close with some comments on prospects for future work.
