Thermal component in induced gravitational collapse scenario

Abstract

The induced gravitational collapse (IGC) scenario has been introduced in order to explain the most energetic gamma ray bursts (GRBs). The prompt emission of long GRB, 080319B, which has the brightest GRB afterglow ever observed, is analyzed under such scenario. We fit the X-ray and γ-ray spectra with a two component photon model, namely band+blackbody, and then study the evolution of the thermal component and the characteristics of the related radiator. Our results confirm the mechanism of IGC scenario.
