Abstract |
The upgrade of the Virgo detector toward its advanced configuration is close to completion: the integration is planned to be completed by end 2015 and will be followed by the commissiong of the full interferometer. First data taking is expected by mid 2016. The new detector will be hosted in the same infrastructure as Virgo, but many technological upgrades have been put in place to reach the goal of a sensitivity 10 times better. An overview of the Advanced Virgo detector design and installation progress will be given. |
