Asymptotics de Sitter Spacetimes in the First Order Formalism

Abstract

A novel formula for the charges in 3+1 gravity for asymptotic de Sitter spacetimes is presented. The new definition is derived from a tetradic Palatini action supplemented with an Euler topological term. The use of spacetimes with asymptotically constant curvature ensures a well-defined variational principle and finiteness of the action and charges. The prescription simplifies the approaches based on the Brown-York formalism avoiding the use of counterterms while the same value for the charges is obtained. The proposal is an extension of a previous result on asymptotically anti-de Sitter spacetimes.
