Primordial non-Gaussianity and beyond power spectrum statistics: Planck results and their implications

Abstract

Tests of primordial non-Gaussianity (PNG) are a powerful tool to probe the Physics of the very early Universe. The most stringent PNG constraints to date are obtained from measurements of the angular bispectrum and trispectrum of Planck 2015 temperature and polarization data. I will review the main steps of the Planck PNG analysis and summarize its most important implications for Inflation and other early Universe scenarios. I will then address the issue of whether and by how much the present PNG constraints can be improved using future Cosmic Microwave Background and Large Scale Structure datasets.
