Ready-to-use GW templates for eccentric inspirals

Abstract

We present an approach to compute a frequency-domain approximant with post-Newtonian (PN) accurate Fourier phase to model GWs from compact binaries in inspiralling eccentric orbits. This project adapts recent post-circular approximations of Yunes et al. (2009) and Huerta et al. (2014). At present, our fully analytic frequency-domain approximant provides inspiral templates with Newtonian order amplitude and 2PN-accurate Fourier phase while incorporating eccentricity effects up to sixth order at each PN order. We have compared estimates for the accumulated number of GW cycles for the second harmonic with those arising from a fully 2PN-accurate time-domain approximant. Our results demonstrate the importance of incorporating the eccentricity contributions in a PN consistent manner.
