Title

A simultaneous spectral and poarimetric study of GRB radiation
Coauthors

Abstract

The radiation process of GRB prompt emission remains highly debated mainly because of the difficulty in modeling the spectrum that evolves quite rapidly, and that too within the individual overlapping pulses emitted during this phase. The situation is accentuated by the limited spectral resolution and sensitivity of the wide field-of-view detectors. We address these issues by strategically choosing our sample e.g., GRBs with separable broad pulses and/or with longer duration. For longer GRBs, it is also possible to observe the late prompt emission phase with focusing detectors with a much better sensitivity for spectral analysis. In recent years, the CZT Imager (CZTI) of the multi-wavelength mission Astrosat has been providing the measurement of polarization of GRB prompt emission which adds another dimension to this study. The high sensitivity of the detectors allows for measuring polarization even within the individual broad pulses. This facilitates an unprecedented opportunity for spectro-polarimetric studies of GRBs. We will present some of the interesting cases and highlight the future application that will be possible with a large sample collected by the mission. We will also highlight the recently selected ESA M5 mission, Theseus that will revolutionize GRB observation.
