Title |
Constraining exotic matter in neutron stars
Coauthors | Schramm, S.; Dexheimer, V.; Mukherjee, A.; Motornenko, A.; Steinheimer, J.
Abstract |
The high densities in the core of compact stars suggest that this region might be populated by more exotic particles beyond nucleons and leptons. This includes heavier baryon states like hyperons or deconfined quarks. These additional degrees of freedom modify the equation of state and affect the stellar properties. In this presentation we confront modelling results of hyper stars and hybrid stars with constraints from nuclear physics, observations of stellar properties as well as the analysis of the recently observed binary neutron-star merger. Given these constraints we discuss the possibility of the occurrence of exotic phases in the stellar core. |
