Title

Spacetime Symmetries and Topology in Bimetric Relativity
Coauthors Torsello, Francesco; Kocic, Mikica; Högås, Marcus; Mortsell, Edvard

Abstract

Hassan-Rosen bimetric relativity is a theory of two interacting metrics. As such, each metric defines a geometry on the spacetime they inhabit. When constructing solutions to the equations of motion, it is usually assumed that the metrics exhibit the same geometry, e.g. that both metrics are spherically symmetric. We point out that this assumption is not necessary, opening up the possibility for new, e.g. cosmological or black hole, solutions. Since the metrics live on the same space-time, they must however share topology, which puts an additional constraint on the solutions. As a proof of principle, a number of example solutions where the metrics share topology but not geometry, are discussed.
