Title

Exact Solutions of Cosmological Models Based on Deceleration Parameter in General Theory of Relativity and Scalar Tensor Theories – A Review
Coauthors

Abstract

Various approaches have been adopted to obtain exact solutions of the field equations in Einstein’s theory of Relativity and Scalar – Tensor Theories. The most prominent among the techniques is the one based on the deceleration parameter. The deceleration parameter is either assumed to be a constant or varying with time. Different assumptions for a time varying deceleration parameter lead to different expressions for the scale factor. The behaviour of the scale factor helps us to analyse if the universe would undergo an accelerated or deceleration expansion. In the case of Scalar Tensor Theories like the Brans-Dicke (BD) Theory, the relation between the BD scalar function and the scale factor determines the solution of the field equations. The relation would lead to a constant or a time varying deceleration parameter. In this paper we propose to review a few of the existing isotropic and non-isotropic cosmological models in General theory of Relativity and Brans-Dicke Theory with both constant and varying deceleration parameter.
