Title

New constraints on sterile neutrino dark matter from the Galactic Center
Coauthors

Abstract

We calculate new constraints on the parameter space for sterile neutrino warm dark matter models possessing a radiative decay channel into X rays. These constraints arise from the X-ray flux observations from the Galactic Center, taken by the XMM and Nustar missions. We compare the results obtained from using different standard dark matter density profiles for the Milky Way, such as NFW, Burkert or Einasto, with the profile produced by the RAR model, which has the distinct feature of depending of the particle mass. We further discuss on the possible effects in the sterile neutrino parameter-space bounds due to a self-interacting nature of the dark matter candidates.

Title

Novel constraints on fermionic dark matter from galactic observables
Coauthors

Abstract

We have recently introduced a new model for the distribution of dark matter in galaxies, the Ruffini-Argüelles- Rueda (RAR) model, based on a self-gravitating system of massive fermions at fi nite temperatures. The RAR model, for fermion masses above keV, successfully describes the DM halos in galaxies, and predicts the existence of a denser quantum core towards the centre of each con figuration. We demonstrate here, for the first time, that the introduction of a cutoff in the fermion phase-space distribution, necessary to account for the fi nite Galaxy size, defi nes a new solution with a compact quantum core which represents an alternative to the central BH scenario for SgrA*. For a fermion mass in the range 48 keV < m < 345 keV, the DM halo distribution agrees with the Milky Way rotation curve data, while harbors a dense quantum core of 4x10^6 Mo within the S2 star pericentre. In particular, for a fermion mass of m ~ 50 keV the model is able to explain the DM halos from typical dwarf to elliptical galaxies, while harboring massive dark compact objects from 10^3 Mo up to 10^8 Mo at their respective centres.
