Compact Binaries in Ground-Based Detectors: An Overview | |||||
Coauthors | ||||||||
Abstract |
The Advanced LIGO and Advanced Virgo detectors have recently completed the second observing run of the gravitational wave astronomy era, adding a binary neutron star merger and a fresh crop of binary black hole mergers to the initial detections. A plethora of techniques are used in the analysis of these sources, from detection and characterisation of individual sources through to hierarchical analysis of the source population. I will give a brief overview of the data analysis techniques employed in these analyses, and highlight some of the challenges to be faced in fully exploiting the improving sensitivity of ground-based detectors. |
