Title

A life with relativity? Václav Hlavatý (1894-1969), a mathematician
Coauthors

Abstract

When Albert Einstein came up with special relativity theory, Václav Hlavatý was only 11 years old. He was allegedly immediately interested, but probably not enough to study physics. After he became differential geometer in the early 1920s, he was bound to notice the research that was conducted in search of the unified field theory. While he did not contribute much to the unified field theories of the 1920s and 1930s, he became one of the few experts on its geometry in the post-WWII years, publishing his monograph on the topic in 1958. In my talk, I will present some snapshots of Hlavatý’s lifethat are connected with relativity theory.
