AGN Jet Emission at Small and Large scales

Abstract

The recent observations in the high energy gamma-ray band show that the extragalactic gamma-ray sky is dominated by the emission from Active Galactic Nuclei (AGN) of different types. This emission is mostly produced in the relativistic jets of these AGNs which makes the jets ideal targets to study particle acceleration and emission processes. Interestingly the current observations allow to detect the emission not only from the innermost (≤ pc) but also from the outer (≥ kpc) regions of the jet. Study the emission from these two scales can greatly help to understand the features of powerful extragalactic jets. In this talk, I will discuss the origin of the emission from the innermost part of the jet using the multiwavelength observations (Swift UVOT/XRT, NuStar, and Fermi-LAT) of PKS 1441+25, CTA 102 (blazars) and NGC 1275 (radio galaxy). Also, using the data from Chandra observations of the large-scale jet (e.g., of 3C 120 and 3C 111) I will discuss the origin of X-ray emission from extended structures of the jet.
